propaganda

I am currently putting together a project statement for my Visual Arts class.
I've decided to do an assignment on Propaganda Posters.
I love a good propaganda poster.
I think one of the most recognizable ones is...
Power of a woman!

I am currently loving these modern ones....

Propaganda posters should be thought provoking,
emotional, and eye catching!

I am currently working on one.

Our governor is horrid... he took down an art mural at the labor board.
Story here...
He has basically hidden it somewhere, and will not tell. Really?
Here is my first attempt....

I still think I need to add a bit more text at the bottom...
What do you think????

laying around

Girls weekend are a lot different than they use to be.
They use to consist of cocktails, dancing, parties, and nakedness (hem)!

Now they consist of laying around, shopping, laying around, reading,
laying around, eating, laying around,  movies...laying around fully clothed.

On this girls weekend we stayed at the North Conway Grand.
The hotel was a great value.
It was a lot less expensive than where we stay when we go to Meridith, NH.
The rooms we ok....the decor was horrid.....It screamed late 80's.
The bedspread was a bit suspect.
The bed-skirts were so wrinkled.

The main lobby was full of these... very large stuffed animals.

They did have a cozy lobby...

We did spend some time here...the hotel pub.
I had 3 drinks....which got me quite tipsy.
So, tipsy I forgot to take silly pictures!

Becky did take this one with her phone...

This was on the door next to us all weekend!!!!
wonder what was going on???

We did some shopping at the outlets.
We swam in the outdoor heated pool.
We had some Chinese food.
We went "downtown" and found this place....
which turned out to be the highlight of the trip!
White Mountain Cupcakery

YUM!!!! we each bought 2 and went back to the hotel to lay around and eat them!
The chocolate peanut butter was amazing!
They were so good we went back the next morning and bought more.

 We met Kathy....
"THE QUEEN OF BUTTER-CREAM"
She was lovely, and funny,
but best of all she makes an amazing cupcake!
(her husband makes pretty flowers!)

Overall it was a good weekend....
how could it not be when you get to eat cupcakes and lay around!

a good book

Ah March! It tests my soul!
I find it the hardest month to stay active, creative, and happy!
My creative juices have hit a lull....
Truly the only cure for the March Madness is to escape into a good book!

I just finished Zorro, by Isabel Allende.

I love Allende's writing.
I would describe it as historical, romantic, and full of action/adventure,
but most important engrossing.

The first Allende book I read was Daughters of Fortune.

I remember exactly when I read it. It was the end of May, nine years ago.
I was 9 months pregnant waiting so patiently(or not) for my son to arrive.
I laid in a hammock, with the sun on my face totally engrossed in the book.
It helped the long days of waiting pass quicker.

Years later (with a small child, reading is a stolen luxury) I read this book...
Portrait in Sepia

Again, it was wonderful!

I am hoping that my March Madness is close to an end.
However, just in case it is not, I am off to my local bookseller to get this...

The House Of The Spirit

No doubt, it will be wonderful!

shower curtain drapes

Have you noticed how expensive draperies are?
Have you notice how boring and plain the affordable ones are?
Here is my question....why cant they take the fabulous prints they make shower curtains from,
and make draperies????

I have been searching for some draperies for my living room.
There are many that I like from here.
Yikes, they are so expensive.  I guess I would buy some if I truly love them,
and knew I would 5 years from now.

I spied these at Target on clearance.....
They were regularly $24.99, on sale for $6.49.
They had 3, so I bought them, along with two cafe rods for $3.99 each.
The great thing about the cafe rods is that they are very thin,
and fit through the openings on the curtain.
This eliminates the expense of the clips.

not bad for under $30.00!
